CE is the symbol of trust and

known as the “EC Mark”, it was defined
as European Conformity was replaced by “CE
Marking” in 1993. It depicts some of the

- Evaluation of the designer dossier
- Technical file evaluation
- Constant surveillance of the quality system
- Monitoring of product system
- Standard identification.
Various steps that manufacturers
can take in order to become certified by a Notified
Body include:
- Selection of the test methods
- Selection of applicable product standards
- Selection of the Notified body.
- Devising an endorsed representative in
the European Union for the product.
- Organizing a Declaration of Conformity:
The declaration to conformity document must
contain information, for the authorities so
that they can track manufacturer or the endorsed
representative. Other information that can
be included; product identification, address
& name of the manufacturer & list
of directions that the products abides by.
- Once certified it is important that the
product once marked as CE should carry the
marking on product packaging, material, labeling
documents and instructions for use of the
product & limitation on who is permitted
to affix CE
marking & when.
